Domain health check

See whether a website is up, whether its SSL certificate and domain registration are about to expire, and whether security filters are blocking it - all in one check. Free, no sign-up.

Free, no sign-up. One check per minute - results in a few seconds.

Checked once is good. Checked every day is better.

Barkme re-checks your SSL certificate, domain registration and blocklist status every day, watches uptime as often as every 30 seconds, and warns you by email, Slack or Telegram - weeks before an expiry, minutes after an outage.

What we check

Every check, and why it matters.

01

Website over HTTPS

We make one HTTPS request to your homepage and record the status code and how long the server took to answer.

Why it matters. If the homepage errors or times out, every visitor and every search crawler sees the same thing. It is the first thing to check when someone says your site is down.

02

SSL certificate

The certificate your server presents: who issued it, which names it covers, whether browsers trust it, and when it expires.

Why it matters. An expired or mismatched certificate puts a full-page security warning in front of your site, and most visitors will not click past it. Automatic renewal fails more often than people expect.

03

Domain registration

The expiry date your domain registry publishes, read over RDAP with WHOIS as a fallback.

Why it matters. When a registration lapses, the website and email stop at the same moment - and once the grace period ends, anyone can register the name.

04

Security blocklists

Whether the protective DNS services from Cloudflare, AdGuard and Quad9 block your domain as malicious.

Why it matters. Millions of people browse through these filters. When one flags your domain, those visitors cannot reach you at all - usually a sign the site was compromised.

05

DNS resolution

The IPv4 and IPv6 addresses your domain points to.

Why it matters. No address means no website. A stale address after a hosting move sends visitors to a server that no longer serves you.

06

Nameservers

The servers that answer DNS questions for your domain.

Why it matters. They hold every record you have - website, email, verification. With a single nameserver, one outage takes all of it offline.

07

DNSSEC

Whether your DNS answers are cryptographically signed and validate.

Why it matters. Signed answers let resolvers reject forged responses that could send your visitors elsewhere. Optional, and usually one switch at your registrar.

Reading the results

Five verdicts.

Pass
Healthy. Nothing to do.
Warning
Works today, but worth fixing before it causes trouble.
Fail
Broken, or about to break. Fix these first.
Info
Optional or informational. Not a problem.
Not checked
We did not get a clear answer. It says nothing bad about your domain - try again later.

What we do - and don't

A light touch.

  • One HTTPS request to your homepage. No crawling, no port scanning, no load testing.
  • Private and internal network addresses are never contacted.
  • DNS, registration and blocklist data come from public sources, not from your server.
  • Results are kept for 24 hours so you can share the link. We do not record who ran the check.
